The Basics

IF YOU WOULDN'T
GIFT IT, DON'T BRING IT.

What we buy is completely based around what our customers want... the GOOD STUFF! No flaws, stains, damage, broken items, outdated styles, etc.

We are passionate about maintaining a fresh, clean, beautiful store that will keep our sellers and customers coming back, while continuously putting money into your pocket!

So a general rule around here is this: if you wouldn't gift it, don't bring it!

Condition Guidelines

The "Prep-Work"

HOW TO BRING IT IN.

HOW - All items must be freshly washed and clean! Lay 40pcs or less of clothing flat (NO HANGERS), with buttons/zippers/snaps fastened, fold stack over like a taco & lay in a clean box/bin/laundry basket. Pack other items, shoes, purses, etc. in a separate container. We will not look at any items brought to us in bags.

PREP-WORK - Be prepared before coming in! You MUST filter through and prepare your items BEFORE you bring them into the store. If you arrive and your items are not ready "sale ready", we will ask you step aside at our check-in counter to prep/clean them OR take them home to do some more "prep-work" there & bring them back a different day.

CONDITION - Items & clothing must be in excellent to new condition and free from stains, holes, odors (smoke, food, etc), pet hair, structural damage/cracks, and any other flaws in order for us to consider.

WHAT -

We only accept current, trendy styles of clothing, shoes & accessories! Please do not bring us anything that has been stored away for years & years.
Home Decor - you're welcome to email pics so we can say "yes bring it in" or "sorry, we'll pass"
We accept these brands . Not these ones.
Toys & any items with pieces/attachments must have pieces contained in ziploc bags so that we can safely display them for sale.
Books-must be in like new condition (currently taking children's, cookbooks & christian books only)

RE-CALLED GOODS - You are responsible for checking for re-calls before bringing your items into the store. Many baby items are recalled each year & it is illegal for us to resell them unless they have repair kits already installed. Click here for a great resource in tracking re-called items.

-> You must show us that your electronic & battery operated items are in working condition. Lamps must have a working light bulb.

The Policies

STORE POLICES / INFO.

Fast Cash

-> This is the only option we offer for clothing items.

This is where you sell your items straight out to us for cash (you may also choose store credit for a 15% bonus added to your credit, plus a 10% off coupon for one shopping trip). No long term commitments, no waiting for your items to sell. We are able to take any season all year long.

Consignment

This is where we sell your non-clothing items for you in our store. Consignment is by invitation/recommendation only and we can let you know if an item or items can be consigned when you bring them in or by previewing pictures you send us by email. It is exceptionally rare that we offer to place clothing items on consignment. If we believe selling something on consignment will be a better option for you to make more money, we will recommend it and you can decide how you would like to proceed. You do not need to choose consignment if you don't want to. Consignment is great if:

you have luxury or designer items
you want to earn 40%-50% of the selling price if your (non-clothing) items sell in our store
you have shoes/handbags/home/other goods that we'll price at $15 or higher
you want to be able to cash out your account balance at any time or leave it to use as store credit

We cannot guarantee the sale of any items that are consigned, but we will do our best to sell them! If you do choose to consign any items, you will be required to fill out a Consignor Agreement in store.

How We Choose What to Accept

We cannot take the time to individually explain why we accept or pass on what you bring in. In general, if we did not take one, some, or all of your items, it is because they either didn't meet our Condition or Brand Guidelines, isn't something that sells well for us, is something that we have too many of, or was something we could not authenticate.

Please, do not be offended! Passes happen to everyone, including our own staff!

Donations

Polkadots is very involved in local community charities and efforts, donating thousands of items each year and meeting the needs of the community due to poverty, fire or natural disaster, personal crisis, etc. However, we do not have the capacity to serve as a donation center. This means that we must ask you do not bring items you know will not qualify for sale simply for us to donate for you. Items We Do NOT Accept

Newly added -> MEN'S CLOTHING - we are only looking at men's brands: Lululemon, AEagle, Abercrombie, Patagonia, Levi's, Under Armour, Nike. Shoes-send us pics of what you have & we'll let you know.

Full size Cribs & Mattresses
Used Electric Breast Pumps
Wedding dresses / gowns
Underwear that is not new with tags/in original packaging
Recalled items that have not been safely fixed with manufacturer recall kit

-> WE WILL NEVER KNOWINGLY ACCEPT/BUY/SELL KNOCK OFFS such as handbags/wallets/sunglasses/clothing/shoes. We can be fined, shut down & even put in jail for selling items that are not authentic. We will always pass on them. Please do not bring them to us...not even for us to donate elsewhere.
